The site forms part of the residential area of the major mixed use North East Bridgwater urban development which has Outline approval for up to 2,000 residential dwellings, commercial services centre, primary school, retail, employment, sports and recreation facilities. This Reserved Matters application is located centrally along the western boundary of the overall development with new residential areas to the north and east, existing railway line to the west, with recreational space and area of existing employment land to the south.

Proposals follow the vision, objectives and design principles as set out within the approved North East Bridgwater Strategic Design Code to ensure a high standard of layout and design is created which is both imaginative and demonstrates appreciation to the character of its surroundings and context.

The 163 homes are provided in a mix of apartment, terraced, semi-detached and detached forms with a range of tenure types designed to create an integrated community. House types are designed utilising a simple palette of materials and house styles, predominately in textured render and brick under a slate grey or red pitched roof, with detailing consisting of brick band courses and raised rendered surrounds to doors and windows.
