A site of initially 132 dwellings, comprising a mix of 3 and 4 bedroom semi and detached open market and 1 to 4 bedroom apartment and terraced affordable units. An additional development area, known as ‘The Rectory’, comprising an extra 12no. dwellings, was later included on adjacent land. Proposals also provide areas of open space, a SUDs storm water attenuation basin and children’s play area in the form of an enhanced LEAP.
The development forms a southerly extension to the existing settlement of Wenvoe, with residential housing to the north and east, garden centre to the south and open countryside to the west. A number of existing mature woodland areas are retained around and within the periphery of the site which have been enhanced as part of the proposals to provide a number of nature trails and to improve biodiversity. Proposals were subject to a number of minor amendments to accommodate the existing water mains and public rights of way.
Dwellings are 2 storey in traditional architectural styles to reflect the character of the neighbouring residential areas with materials in a mix of red brick and light coloured render with brick detailing. Roof pitches are between 35 and 45 degrees with red, brown and slate grey plain concrete roof tiles.
