Following Outline planning approval, CDS submitted the Reserved Matters application for a development of 96 homes, comprising 67no. 3 & 4 bed open market & 29no.1 to 4 bed affordable mixed tenure dwellings. House types are 2 storey & designed to complement the local vernacular with a mix of traditional & modern architectural styles. A simple materials palette of predominantly recon. stone, with occasional use of brick & off-white render under slate grey flat or cottage red profile roof tiles has been utilised.
Proposals provide a new vehicular access off Upper New Road, with additional footpath/ cycleway connections providing links to the wider area. The majority of the existing trees and hedgerows are retained with housing designed around ecological buffers to protect & enhance wildlife & biodiversity. Areas of open space are included with a large centrally located green corridor along the route of the existing water course. Development also provides several equipped play areas in the form of a LEAP & LAP, together with a community orchard & surface water attenuation features. Treatment of access roads fronting onto the open spaces has been sensitively designed to help integrate development within the retained green spaces & minimise impact on wildlife.
